Are there any consequences for falsification of vaccine status or testing results?

Vaccination record cards are intended to provide recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine with information about the type of vaccine they received, and when they may be able to receive a second dose of the vaccine. By misrepresenting yourself as vaccinated, you put yourself and others around you at risk of contracting COVID-19. Additionally, the unauthorized use of an official government agency's seal (such as Health and Human Services (HHS) or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)) is a crime and may be punishable under Title 18 United States Code, Section 1017, and other applicable laws.

What will IPC accept in terms of negative COVID testing? Will a rapid-results test be adequate?

Both PCR and antigen are acceptable as long as testing is conducted within 72 hours prior to your arrival.

Will we be required to wear masks?

If I’m travelling from abroad, do I need to quarantine?

The San Diego International Airport asks all travelers to follow CDC guidance for traveling. That guidance requests that international travelers fly after being fully vaccinated. Please reference the CDC website for additional information.

Where can I find U.S. entry requirements if I’m travelling from abroad?

Starting November 8, 2021 a new air travel system will take effect allowing entry for fully vaccinated foreign tourists to enter the US.

Vaccinated foreign air travelers will need to show proof of full vaccination as well as a pre-departure negative coronavirus test taken within three days of travel before they can board a plane to the U.S.

Airlines will collect personal information, including a phone number and email, from all U.S.-bound travelers for contact tracing. Airlines are required to keep the information on hand for 30 days so health officials can follow up with travelers who may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Masking will be required, but there will be no quarantine mandate.

For more information and requirements on traveling to the US from other countries, please visit the U.S. Department of State’s website.

If international presenters can't get into the U.S., will you live stream their papers/presentations?

Where can I go for information regarding hotel/lodging COVID- 19 requirements?

There is no state mandate for all hospitality and event employees to be vaccinated. San Diego’s hospitality industry has implemented best-in-class safety protocols, including enhanced cleaning and staff training, and have been successfully hosting leisure guests since last summer.

Should I be concerned with air ventilation in the convention center?

With their guidance, they enhanced cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention protocols, and conducted extensive employee training. Having supported continuous, 24/7 activities within the building for well over a year, they have one of the most experienced teams in the country when events resume.

The systems are carefully managed to provide the appropriate amount of indoor air circulation and proper outside makeup air. They have also installed additional hand sanitizer stations and hygiene reminder signage throughout the building.
