The soldering competition was a very interesting experience for me. I was able to watch and interact with other people that are involved in the same industry. It was also very informative to be able to speak with the judges and learn from my mistakes. The new technology that was provided at IPC APEX EXPO was remarkable. It was very interesting to see SMT placement machines scaling down for high mix, low volume. I also saw a trend in cameras for repair and inspection; these would make optical loops obsolete.
